Sativa seeds: where it grows and what benefits it has

Sativa has a strong energetic effect, high growth, thin leaves and stem. First described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. Unlike indica, which developed in arid climates, the seeds of the marijuana sativa germinated in warm regions with high humidity. This influenced its structure, rate of maturation and effect.

What is the structure of the sativa?

Prior to human cultivation, sativa grew only in warm, humid climates. It developed a pivotal root system, thin leaves, and a stem. This design ensures that no moisture is retained by the plant, one part of which is used for growth and development and the rest quickly evaporates. Sativa seldom grows below 150 centimeters and in favorable conditions, with lots of sun and high humidity, it can grow to the height of 3-4 meters.

Because sativa cultivars were grown in warm climates with mild winters, their flowering period lasts several weeks longer than indica cultivars. They flower in early to mid-October, when in temperate climates frost can already set in. This is why pure sativa grows poorly in the midlands, but with the development of breeding, more viable sativa-dominant hybrids have begun to appear. Due to the high growth, the productivity of sativa bushes is higher, but the inflorescences are small and loose, another side effect of developing in high humidity.

Sativa marijuana has a cerebral effect: stimulant or psychedelic, depending on THC levels. It has a low level of terpene myrcene, which is abundant in indica and turns the energizing effect of THC into a relaxing one. Even medicinal sativa, which has a higher percentage of CBD, retains its stimulating effects. Sativa varieties are more popular for recreational purposes than for medicinal purposes, according to a U.S. National Institutes of Health study. But they are still used in therapy.

Therapeutic properties of sativa

Cannabis's medicinal effects are due to the cannabinoids, its active ingredients. The therapeutic properties of CBD, THC, CBC and CBDG are the most studied. They are found in sativa cannabis, but because of its energetic - even psychedelic - effects, it is rarely prescribed for cramps, muscle cramps and nausea. Varieties with high THC levels are not suitable for adjunctive treatment of anxiety and PTSD. Buying cannabis seeds may be recommended to combat depression and severe fatigue, and less commonly to treat pain syndrome.

Sativa cannabis, like indica, has anti-inflammatory effects, is a neuroprotectant, and promotes neurogenesis - a property of cannabis discovered in 2013 that stimulates nerve cell formation. Scientists are actively studying the ability of CBD and THC to inhibit the development of cancer - to disrupt the blood supply to the tumor until it is completely destroyed.
