Varieties of medical cannabis
Medical cannabis has long ceased to be a topic only for enthusiasts - today it is recognized throughout the world as an effective natural remedy for relieving the symptoms of various ailments. However, not all cannabis is new. There are three main varieties of this plant - sativa, indica and ruderalis - each of which has unique powers, history and effects that may be significant for different groups of patients.
Cannabis sativa was the first officially classified plant of its genus. In 1753, the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus identified them as a single species. Proceed through the complexity of communication at that time without knowing about the origin of other forms, such as indica and ruderalis. Over the years it has become clear that cannabis is no different than sativa. Indica was described 30 years later by Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck, and ruderalis was identified much later, growing wildly in the harsh climate of the SND and Central Asia.
Sativa grows tall, with narrow leaves and thrives in warm climates. It forms fluffy butternut browns, and then continues the color cycle. Moreover, sativa varieties are better suited for open soil, but in indoor growers their height can become a problem. Sativa gives an energetic, stimulating effect, which is especially valuable in cases of depression or loss of appetite. Some varieties, such as “Durban Otruta” and Thai sativa, have a strong psychoactive profile and a bright fruity aroma.
Indica has a more compact body, wider leaves and thicker buds. The molding of the kits is carried out more quickly, and it is necessary to use them manually for processing in closed areas. The effects of the symptoms are directly related to relaxation of the body, decreased pain and sleeplessness. Patients with chronic illnesses, anxiety or spasms often overwhelm this type. Afghanica seeds, for example, are resistant to resin and have a high resistance to illness, making them ideal for preparing concentrates such as hashish.
Cannabis ruderalis is a lesser-known but extremely valuable species, especially for breeding. It is small in size, durable in cold climates and colors automatically, regardless of the dryness of the day. This very feature has made ruderalis a key genetic resource for the creation of self-fertilizing varieties. Because of this power, current autocow hybrids can survive in the rivers and live at low latitudes with short summers.
Current selection is rarely based on only one variety. The most widespread are hybrids that can be grown in rice sativa, indica and ruderalis in different proportions. Such varieties allow the maximum adaptation of the plant to meet the needs of diversification and therapeutic needs. For example, sativa-dominant hybrids can have a more energetic effect, but will produce lower flowering plants of ruderalis plants. Nowadays, indica-dominant hybrids often suffer from pain and sleeplessness, which makes them unsuitable for indoor cultivation.
Medical cannabis is increasingly seen as a tool for personalized therapy. Depending on the symptoms that need relief, the doctor or the patient can reverse the treatment with a different cannabinoid profile. Varieties with high THC may be effective for relieving pain, stimulating appetite, or improving mood, while varieties with high CBD content may be suitable for combating anxiety, anxiety, and fever without any significant psychoactive effect.
Due to the development of science and the efforts of breeders, cannabis has been transformed from a wild crop into a high-tech product with clearly predicted authorities. And now I can choose not just “grass” for my skin, but plants that suit my needs, my way of living, and I will become healthy.
